[QUOTE="randeelwrw, post: 4146672, member: 23178"] yeah.. There are couple of influences behind the formation of this kind of music style.. During 18th centuary, programs were tend to come up with 'program music' which is a type of art music intended to evoke extra-musical ideas, images in the mind of the listener by representing a scene, image or mood musically. Also the events and changes that happen in society affects the music.(this is what's happenning in SL now.. Iraj and others fools ' music is just a reflection of the society) The Industrial Revolution was in full effect by the late eighteenth early nineteenth centuries and that might affect the romantic style of music... The other reason is the 'rise of the middle class'. Well.. w.r.t. to Sri Lankany modern society.. this is really a negative factor.. During the romatic period there were a lot of people (in fact many rich people ) who loves and are addicted to this kind of music. That why its get so popular and many composers were not afraid to compose music with the free flow... But in Sri Lanka .. its the total opposite ... I don't think even 1% of Sri Lankan music listerns would love to listen to this type of music.. That's why Kasun is not so popular in the society while fools are very popular..
