After winning war we have eradicate terrorists nearly completely from Sri Lanka. And most importantly we have defeated all the western forces against us which these churches represented after the war in different occasions especially in the UNHRC. I guess church has rather feared that western community and Christian powers would loose after the completion of the war which has already happened in front of our eyes. So the statement by Rev WP Ebenezer Joseph saying "Fighting will not lead us anywhere," is relevant for them but for Sri Lanka as a country it was nonsense. Fighting has been raging since the collapse of a 2002 ceasefire between the Government and Tamil rebels, LTTE, who want autonomy. Repeated efforts to restart the peace process have foundered.The Sri Lankan Red Cross confirmed yesterday that Sooriyakanthy Thavarajah, a 40-year-old volunteer, had been killed after being abducted by gunmen.
