The qualifying sessions for the race to determine the drivers star ting grid position will also be held here. After its success last year as the Sri Lanka’s first International music festival, exciting acts from UK and Sri Lanka with the main headliner, char t topping British electro act Chicane and BBC Radio 1 DJ Nihal and more acts to be announced over the coming weeks.</p><p>A night motor race in Colombo has been the dream of most motor spor ts fans in Sri Lanka and it has finally come to recognition with Carlton Spor ts and Tharunyata Hatek, conducted jointly by the two governing bodies, Sri Lanka Automobile Spor ts Association and the Federation of Motorcycle Spor ts in Sri Lanka along with all member racing Clubs; and the Red Cherry Enter tainment joining to organize the event.</p><p>Sri Lankan drivers along with a number of International teams who have accepted the invitation to par ticipate will be taking par t in the Colombo Night Race on December 17. The races on newly laid road sur faces are expected to showcase exotics including the Lamborghini Diablo, Mosler MT900, Aston Mar tin, and Porsche 911 Carreras, including the Subaru Impreza STI, Mitsubishi Evolution, Ford Laser, Nissan March, Honda Civic SIR and the world famous Morris Mini Minor and Formula Ford and many other famous race cars presently run locally.</p><p>While the races take place on the main circuit, the Red Cherry Event management company will host series of enter tainment events throughout the evening of December 17. Side walks, car parks and alleyways will all be converted in to enter tainment zones; from par ties featuring per formances by renowned international artists- curated by entertainment par tner Electric Peacock Festival, gaming zones with mini quad bike tracks, bmx’ing rings, skateboards ramps and specially designed dance floors on Colombo’s high street. The Director of Red Cherry, Rishini Weeraratne said that ‘this event will undoubtedly be the first of its kind in Sri Lanka. With CSN, the country’s premier spor ts network being the main force behind this event, Colombo is undoubtedly in for a treat like no other.
