The orders were made by Additional Anuradhapura Magistrate Shivantha Manchanayake following Raigam Marketing Services (PVT) Limited being found guilty on charges of marketing red raw rice string hopper flour without the indication of the required packing details, including the expiry date.Taking into consideration 12 similar past offences committed by the company, the Magistrate ordered the Registrar of the Court to ascertain the cost involved in publicizing the said orders in three national newspapers in the Sinhala ,Tamil and English languages respectively. He further ordered to make arrangements to recover such costs from the company by way of a fine.Public Health Inspector- Prageeth Jaliya Jayathileke of the Office of the Medical Officer of Health – Mihintale had filed the case against Raigam Marketing Services (PVT) Limited and its Management.Elaborating further, the Magistrate ordered the Registrar of the Court to report on any permit or a licence issued to Raigam Marketing (PVT) Limited under the Food Act if any, allowing the production, importation, sale, storage for sale of consumer goods and to report to court after ascertaining the authority concerned. Further he instructed the Registrar to notify all licensing and permitting authorities of the order.The Magistrate also ordered the licensing authorities to confirm the implementation of the court order. .In addition, the company was ordered to pay a fine of Rs.5, 000/-. When the order was announced in open court, the representative of the company had fainted inside the dock. Public Health Inspectors who were in court had immediately removed the representative from the dock for medical attention.</blockquote>
