8th June 2021 – Total worldwide COVID-19 cases have reached 174,191,085 with 3,747,055 deaths as of 12.05am today.Global infections are falling dramatically, with the U.S. reporting the lowest number of daily COVID-19 cases since March 2020. Worldwide infections for the week ended Sunday were also the least in almost three months.

China has completed dispatching COVID-19 vaccines and syringes to 66 countries and one international organisation as of Sunday amid efforts to provide vaccine aid and strengthen international cooperation, the Ministry of Commerce (MOC) said. The MOC, along with relevant government bodies, will ensure that vaccines are delivered to recipient countries as soon as possible, said Qian Chunying, an official with the ministry, on Monday.
China’s exports continued to surge in May, although at a slower pace than the previous month, fuelled by strong global demand as more economies around the world opened up. Imports soared, boosted by rising commodity prices.
A few malls and residential complexes in Shanghai have started asking visitors to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination, with one shopping centre’s temporary decision to bar entry sparking a backlash on social media. A video showing a local resident arguing with security guards about the legitimacy of barring unvaccinated people at the entrance of the Pacific Life Plaza in Shanghai has been shared tens of hundreds of times on Weibo.
Hong Kong’s vaccination rate picked up last week, with a record 31,400 people receiving their first doses on Saturday. The increase came after the government announced a campaign to accelerate inoculations by September and as major companies and restaurants started offering incentives including cash payouts and extra time off.

Air travel just recorded its biggest day since 7th March, 2020. The Transportation Security Administration screened 1.98 million people Sunday, bigger than any day over Memorial Day weekend, which topped out on Friday, 28th May, at 1.96 million people.
Most adults in the US have received at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine. But still, the United States is in danger of not meeting President Biden’s 4th July vaccination goal.

India’s federal health ministry has set the gap between the required two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine for Olympic-bound athletes and officials to four weeks, local media quoting the Indian Olympic Association head said on Monday.
