[QUOTE="damannaked, post: 2324740, member: 43428"] how i C D.S...... i joined DS when i was five years old in 1992. as a grade 1 student...1st thing i noticed when i was there was the way teachers call the students... they called us SON...later i learned that concept was first introduced by DS and now most of the schools follows it... and all the senior students called us "Malli" and dat made us automatically call them "Aiya". And the time i spend in DS i learned dat how much DS culture helping me to b a better person... In our school students belong to all the religions races studied together..and all my 13 years school life v didnt had a fight against each race or religion...(but v had other fights.hehe).treating all the student in da same way relly helped me to look at our society in an open mind. and the other main thing was the relationship between STUDENTS,TEACHERS AND PARENTS...it was a very strong bond..which looked more like a family..parents cared abut the teachers as they are there own teachers...and parents were always there to help the school in every way it needed.and all of us no matter wut family back ground v came from v all learned how to respect every1 and we all were so much in love vth our school.. and the contribution of the old boys were so significant in the development of the school.. when i enter in to DS in 1992 it was not as hugely famous or equipped as it is now. thanx to past students and old boys, teachers principals like sir R.I.T Allas, Sir kodikara and Sir Hewage and parents who treated DS as their own family property DS is in very demanding place compared to most of the schools in sri lankan now. i can remember there were so many fund raisers were organized and they were all packed.and most of the time they archived more than expected..i can remember v had a walk to raise funds for sport complex. that was the first massive walk i attended. the walk was suppose to go to the new grounds from the school.and dat distance is not more than 2 km.. but it took more than 3 hrs to end da rally. and there are so many things DS did for the first time in Sri lankan history. 1 thing i can remember is da Electronic scoreboard. dat was the 1st in SL dat time. and now DS is in a level were no 1 can reach..we are equal to the schools like ananda, royal,thomas..our school history is just over 40 years and those schools i think more dan 200yrs.. so just imagine where v will end up in another 50 yrs... i think new generation of students need to carry on all the things my seniors did and da good things we did..and make sure our school stays number1 forever... hail the dons.... P.S- i had so many chances to go to other school after my scholarship exam and OL and sports.. but my heart never allowed me to go..i kno most of ours is like that.when v get attached to this mother u never feel like leaving her. ananda, royal, thomas, josep all has a very long history compared to DS. but in a very short time period in like 35 years v were able to challenge all those school vth facilities, talents etc...
