The two pianists are a wonderful match in every way, with total unanimity in sound as well as interpretation?not surprising, since Frantz studied with Eschenbach, and both pianists have pursued similar paths as conductors, in addition to their success as concert pianists. Eschenbach?s second career as a conductor is well known in the US. Frantz, whose career is centered in Europe, was inspired by Leonard Bernstein and profoundly affected by the musical and political ideals of his mentor; in 1995, he created the Philharmonia of the Nations?a multinational group of young musicians from over 40 countries?which he conducts everywhere. His dedication to music is evident in his appointment as Special Ambassador to the UN High Commission for Refugees; he is also the founder of the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival.

Tracklist:

Disc: 1

01.
