Its seems these days that Facebook is hotter than ever. "The Social Network," based on its origin, snagged the best picture prize this weekend from the National Society of Film Critics. Jesse Eisenberg was also named best actor for his dead-on portrayal of founder Mark Zuckerberg. Also, director David Fincher won for best director and Aaron Sorkin won the honor for best screenplay. Also making news this weekend was a ridiculous rumor that Facebook would be shutting down and closing on March 15. Quickly going viral, the rumor created a mini-panic among users concerned about their photos and other content they've shared on the world's largest social network. The rumor originated from a post at The Weekly World News. It claims that Zuckerberg "wants his old life back" and that "managing Facebook has become too stressful." It also says that "users will no longer be able to access their Facebook accounts on March 15th. All signs point to this being a silly rumor and it should be taken with a huge grain of salt. Consider the source. After all, this was the same site that started rumors about Michelle Obama being pregnant and reports on alien abductions and the infamous "bat boy." Cue "The Twilight Zone" music. Facebook is more than safe -- especially since the Palo Alto, Calif.-based company was valued at $50 billion after a recent $500 million infusion of cash by investment bank Goldman-Sachs.:no::no: "
