And it doesn't matter if your mobile application is a J2ME, Windows Mobile, Android or iPhone app all these platforms recognizes http protocol, so you won't have a problem with you mobile side either.believe me this is easier I have done it earlier like that, I know this because I have done scjp, mad n wcd still i'd use php for such a project. But if you need some serious security and stuff i can suggest you to use EJB, spring etc..</blockquote>
