[QUOTE="S.D.P.Pathmasiri, post: 7768451, member: 165109"] Eating meat and fish by human beings. Irrespective of religion, cast or colour etc. eating dead body of animals, birds or fish is really a curse not only to the so called cultured human being including educated, uneducated, various groups but also to the very important and very useful subject cookery. Here, special attention is drawn to the Buddhist. Being humans we arrange various parties like wedding festivals, alms giving occasions . Almost all the parties or various occasions based even on religious value are full of meat, fish dried fish (Flesh) and perhaps alcohol which is supposed be a mark of their status or the way of welcome their participants. We must be very grateful to such organizers as they devote money, time, labour for the befit of participants, despite of ignorable short comings. With purified mind, if something is given to anyone ( to human beings or animals ) in labour of love, good results will be back in turn for those who are participated in such occasions. Buddhists as well as other devotees very well know good result of giving as it generates meritorious power that lessens the attachment to the world which is the base of the happiness. At the end of such parties and special occasions we naturally express our gratification to the organizers by wishing them with healthy wealthy, happiness, long live. Blessings on the house holder is welcome by him. But the organizer is unknown that he has ordered killing several innocent animals for the occasion . Those who wish the people are not aware that their bellies are full of putrescent meat which is arranged to be more tasty and delicious by using various spices and under modern cooking methods. No Buddhism allows harming and killing animals or any beings who has life. If any person claims that no restriction for flesh consumption in Buddhism that is completely wrong. We find no animals with speaking capability also nor can they complain to any authority demanding their security and whose survival entirely depend on civilized and kind hearted mankind as flesh consumption is concerned. Anyone approves flesh consumption is reasonable, he or she, irrespective of the position he /she holds, is a wrong viewer and not a Buddhist and should be ignored. May you remember them 1st one of the five precepts (Panch seela ) that is to refrain from killing beings. Eating flesh has resulted in 1. the corruption of immune capacity of human body which easily leads to chronic situations 2. unexpected deaths, 3. unending sufferings, illnesses with excruciating pain where no cure. 4. loosing the balance of the body and mind slowly but steadily which cannot be sensed by a normal man until he faces various disasters, sometime no machine could be invented on this earth to diagnose such minute variations of body compose. Suppose you are surrounded by thieves with sharpened and glistering weapons and can you imagine the degree of the fear of the death ?. Apply the situation to the animals who are about to Be beheaded. Killing animals are done by you who eat flesh secondly the merchant and the last link is the killer. If any one likes to be happy and free from sufferings let the others to live freely and happily.
