Message: <blockquote data-quote="Hellbuster" data-source="post: 6794" data-attributes="member: 10">Deputy Inspector General (Colombo Range) Pujith Jayasundara appealed to all Grama Seva Niladaris and Representatives of the Citizens' Committees of Colombo police range, to give their fullest cooperation to conduct a survey to ensure civil security and welfare of the community. An Electronic Civilian Security Database will be set up at the Presidential Secretariat under this initiative. The importance of the project was really experienced after the 2004 tsunami and the details of the victims have been collected at the Presidential Secretariat. Every citizen would be subjected to this survey and the information gathered through the survey would be interlinked by the network of Divisional Secretariats. This could be utilised for collecting correct information in various civil requirements such applying for National Identity Cards and passports. DIG Jayasundara emphasised the importance of public awareness on this survey. Initially, the survey would be carried out within the Colombo City Police range and scheduled to commence from the Narahenpita police Division on July 11. District Secretary G. A.J. Sylvester emphasised the practical convenience of having a national network system to facilitate the public in their civil needs. Project Coordinator Roshan Edirisinghe and Divisional Secretary Kanthi Perera also addressed the gathering.</blockquote>
