Electroteks chief B A C Abeywardene says the mobile firm would offer prices around 1 rupee to 1 rupee and fifty cents cheaper than existing operators. But Electroteks already has a tower network in the country and is familiar with the cumbersome process of getting approvals and building new towers. Analysts say this will allow Reliance to roll out its network faster and also keep costs down. Electroteks has a strong record in bringing disruptive and low cost technology to the island. It was a pioneer voice over internet protocol (VOIP) international telephony operator which disrupted Sri Lanka's then monopoly in international voice traffic.
