The social media website Facebook has decided to investigate the fan page for the “grease devil” after Sri Lankan authorities had lodged a complaint. Sri Lanka Computer Emergency Response Team Senior Information Security Engineer Rohana Palliyaguru told The Sunday Leader that a complaint against the fan page had been submitted to Facebook. He said that Facebook has responded by saying that they will investigate the fan page and its contents and decide the next step. Palliyaguru said that the investigations will include finding out who is operating the fan page on Facebook and people who have clicked “like” on the page. Meanwhile the Criminal Investigations Department is also investigating the fan page and its content. As of last Friday the page had over 3500 followers and it also has a video of a man being assaulted on the assumption he was a “grease devil”. The police had warned last week they will take action against anyone who spreads false rumors on the existence of a “grease devil”. SL
