Message: <blockquote data-quote="lkdood" data-source="post: 10261409" data-attributes="member: 92282">Five foreign universities including the  Manipal University of India had finalized their agreements to set  establish branch campuses in Sri Lanka., and they were awaiting the  necessary legislation to be enacted in parliament soon, an official said  yesterday.      A Higher Education Ministry said the Manipal University Vice Chancellor  would hold talks with the ministry this week. “These non-state  universities will admit both local and foreign students. Besides, they  will set aside 20 per cent of the scholarships for local students to be  admitted based on their Z-score marks,” he said.         When asked whether students would be admitted to the proposed  universities based on the results of the 2011 Advanced Level Examination  he said, “The foreign universities need more time to put up buildings  and the other infrastructure. We have to first identify the lands where  these universities will be set up.”      The official said these universities would be established outside of Colombo, with one each in Kandy, Puttalam and Hambantota.</blockquote>
