United National Party (UNP) General Secretary Tissa Attanayake says  that steps are underway to make a special request to the President in  this regard. A well-known Buddhist monk has come forward to deliver the request  of the Opposition Leader to the President, the UNP General Secretary  says. UNP General Secretary made these observations to media after visiting the former Army Commander in jail.
