Terry signs new one-year Chelsea deal Chelsea have confirmed captain John Terry has signed a new one-year deal with the club. The 35-year-old has agreed to fresh terms following discussions between the defender, club owner Roman Abramovich and incoming boss Antonio Conte, the Blues have revealed. Terry's new contract will take him into his 22nd season with Chelsea and he has expressed his delight at finally putting the speculation surrounding his future to bed. He told the club's official website: "I am delighted to sign a new contract with the club. Everyone knows I'm Chelsea through and through. "I am looking forward to next season under the new manager and hopefully we can make it a successful one. "Also, a special mention to the fans for their continued support. You’re the best in the world." Terry announced in February that Chelsea had not offered him a new contract and therefore looked destined to leave in the summer ahead of Conte's arrival at Stamford Bridge. Supporters have since urged the club to keep Terry in west London in the closing weeks of the season, resulting in talks starting between the two parties over a new contract in May. Terry, who had been linked with Manchester United prior to extending his stay at Chelsea, joined the club aged 14 and has made 703 first-team appearances to date. Chairman Bruce Buck added: “We are delighted John will spend another year at the club. He has been the leader of the Chelsea squad throughout the most successful period in our history. “He recently reached the 700-appearance mark, which is testament to his professionalism and dedication as well as his undoubted talent.”
