Van Gaal: Fans more concerned about winning the title than me! Louis van Gaal claims Manchester United fans are more concerned than him about winning the Premier League. United missed out on a top-four finish in the Dutchman's second season in charge at Old Trafford, despite an outlay of over £100 million on the likes of Anthony Martial, Morgan Schneiderlin and Memphis Depay last summer. Unsatisfied by the club's results and performances - having last won the league three years ago - some supporters have voiced their frustrations towards the head coach at times throughout the 2015-16 campaign. Speaking ahead of United's FA Cup final clash with Crystal Palace on Saturday, Van Gaal confessed winning trophies is in the blueprint of the club but says he isn't as fixated on winning the league as he believes supporters are. "I think the fans are more concerned about the title than I," the former Barcelona coach told the club's official website. "We want to give it to them because they were always there and, in my opinion, unconditional because they have never let us down. "A club like Manchester United needs silverware. You have read that the whole season. We need that and the players need that also." Van Gaal's tenure at the club has coincided with the squad suffering several lengthy injuries but claims he has a positive selection dilemma this weekend, following Marouane Fellaini's return from suspension alongside fitness boosts for Marcos Rojo and Matteo Darmian. "I work a year with 27 players - all the 27 try to do their utmost best," he said. "I believe in that and then you have to say to a player he is not invited for the squad. He has to come to the stadium. That is not nice. They have all worked very hard. I do this individually, always, you cannot do it with the group."
