I don't think Chelsea are that convincing, Liverpool have their problems. “I think if United win next weekend they're right back in the title race.” Scholes also congratulated former England and United team-mate Rooney, who equalled Sir Bobby Charlton's record of 249 goals for the club with the opener against Reading. “It's a great achievement,” Scholes said. “He's won many trophies and the thing that most impresses me is that he's been here for so long but the hunger and desire is still there. “He looked sharp, there was great movement, his touch was very good, his all-round game's brilliant. Let's hope he breaks that record against Liverpool. “He's been a massive part of the success of this team, he's won many trophies here, scored some special goals. There's some amazing goals – strikes from outside the box, little clever dinks, clever chips, scored a goal from the halfway line. “He's been sensational for this football club and long may it continue,” Scholes added, joking: “Of course, he learnt it all from me!”Next up for United is a League Cup semi-final first leg at home to Hull City, before they turn their attention to Liverpool. United are currently 10 points adrift of league leaders Chelsea, who have games against Arsenal, Liverpool and reigning champions Leicester in the next month.</blockquote>
