'Zidane would return style to Man Utd' - Frenchman could fix Mourinho faults, says Ince Manchester United lack identity under Jose Mourinho, says Paul Ince, and any move for Zinedine Zidane would see them bring a recognised style back to the club. The Red Devils have made an inconsistent start to the 2018-19 campaign, with the current man at the helm having struggled to settle on a preferred XI and tactical approach. Ince considers that to be the reason for the speculation surrounding Mourinho’s future, with it difficult to see what United are trying to achieve under the current coaching regime. Former Real Madrid boss Zidane would add something new at Old Trafford, having enjoyed considerable success in Spain, and his presence could reignite the spark which has been lacking of late. Former United midfielder Ince told Express Sport: “Zizou did great at Real Madrid. He came in and won Champions League after Champions League, just phenomenal.“He had a style at Real Madrid. And it got the best from their attacking players.Players bought into it. Zidane’s way of playing got them on side and that, for me, was significant.“You look at United now and they don’t have a way of playing. But Zidane did at Real. And if he gets the United job I see him using that same style.” While talking up the qualities that Zidane would bring to United, Ince is not convinced that change is required at Old Trafford. He considers underperforming players to be more at fault for the Red Devils’ struggles than an under-fire boss, with Mourinho boasting a CV which suggests that he will get things right if given the necessary support. “Look, I still think he can turn it around,” Ince added.“But the players need to deliver. Look at Alexis Sanchez and Paul Pogba. I know they beat Newcastle last week but for me, that has papered over some of the cracks. “Mourinho needs his players playing for him and they showed they can fight, that they do care. But they have to help him out of this mess.”
