Message: <blockquote data-quote="nismok" data-source="post: 6676743" data-attributes="member: 109094">Wife of General Fosneka , Anoma Fonseka and New Democratic Front  (NDF) Secretary Ms. Sharmila Perera filed a fundamental rights petition  (FR) yesterday (10) in the Supreme Court (SC)  challenging the arbitrary  arrest of Gen. Fonseka on the 8th of February . Defense Secretary  Gotabaya , Army Commander Jagath Jaysooriya , OIC Colombo security Major  General Sumith Manawadu, Head of the military police Brigadier Wijesiri  and Attorney General were cited as respondents .  The petition seeks Court intervention to issue an order directing  the respondents to release Fonseka who is under arbitrary arrest , and  another order  requesting the Attorney General to  expedite  investigations and furnish a report to the Court to decide whether this  arrest is indeed warranted.The petition which gave details of a  series of events and threats which were directed against him by the  Govt . including phone calls , the siege on his Hotel  where he was  staying on the night of election results described  the degrading,  unlawful  and arbitrary manner in which the arrest was made on the 8th .</blockquote>
