The game was originally meant to  hit stores on October 19th, however the publisher has decided to delay  the game by almost a month, and currently targets a November 20th  release. According to the  developers, this extra time will give them the opportunity to make some  final adjustments to core gameplay, and to ensure they deliver on the  potential of Tides of War. Of course this sounds more like a PR  statement than the real reason behind this delay. Our guess is that EA  decided to delay the game in order to avoid being “sandwiched”  between Call of Duty Black Ops 4 and Red Dead Redemption 2. Call of Duty  Black Ops 4 will release on October 12th whereas Red Dead Redemption 2  is coming out on current-gen consoles on October 26th. It’s also been  reported that the game’s pre-orders are below those of Black Ops 4, so  it makes perfect sense to delay the game so it can avoid this  competition. The open beta phase of Battlefield 5 has not been delayed and will go live on September 6th!</blockquote>
