Message: <blockquote data-quote="lkdood" data-source="post: 6397440" data-attributes="member: 92282">The propaganda office of Presidential candidate General Sarath Fonseka at Ihala Biyanwila in the Biyagama electorate came under attack by an unidentified armed gang in the early hours of yesterday. The attackers caused extensive damage to a nearby house as well. Supporters of Biyagama UNP Organizer Ruwan Wijewardena were present in the office at the time of the incident. The gang that had allegedly come in two vans, stormed into the office, and threatened its occupants. They also fired shots into the air breaking several glass panes including a window of a nearby house and caused extensive damage to household appliances and furniture. Biyagama UNP Organizer Ruwan Wijewardene, who rushed to the scene, said the government knew that it was on the verge of a debacle and had unleashed a wave of violence on the opposition, but he said it would only embolden the UNF and its supporters.
