Sridharan will be leaving for Geneva on February 28, the Ceylon Today reported. In Geneva, the TNA delegation intends to brief the representatives of the UNHRC member countries to garner their support for the resolution to be presented by the United States on Sri Lanka. TNA Spokesperson and Jaffna District Parliamentarian, Suresh K. Premachandran has said that the party took the decision to attend the UNHRC session during the parliamentary group meeting on Friday. According to the MP the TNA delegation has already informed the member countries of their intentions to meet the representatives to brief the progress on the implementation of the recommendations in the Lessons Learnt and Reconciliation Commission (LLRC) report. Speaking to Ceylon Today, Premachandran has said that the government has not made any move in improving the human rights conditions in the North and East. "The Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the North and East are still in peril. No action has been taken with regard to the release of the Tamil political prisoners. More than 30,000 IDPs in the Jaffna Peninsula are yet to be resettled in their original places, even after the war ended three years ago," the TNA MP has pointed out. "Therefore, the TNA will urge the member countries to put more pressure on Sri Lanka to look into the unresolved problems of the Tamils in the island," Premachandran has said. The MP noted that several support groups have already started lobbying for the US resolution and the delegation's presence will give them a boost. The UK, Canada and European Union have already expressed their support to the US resolution.  Russia has announced it will support Sri Lanka at the UNHRC. CP/CT</blockquote>
