Message: <blockquote data-quote="CoolCartoon" data-source="post: 2424773" data-attributes="member: 6894">Government tightens rules on usage of mobile telephones in Sri LankaSunday, July 13, 2008, 14:18 GMT, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.July 13, Colombo: Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRCSL) yesterday publishing a new guidelines tightened the usage of mobile telephones, issuing and using of new connections, and usage of CDMA telephones.According to the new regulation no person shall by way of trade, manufacture, import, sell offer for sale, deal, transfer, hire, lease, demonstrate, maintain or repair any telecommunication apparatus, except under the authority of a license issued by the TRC.General public is also advised to use mobile telephones which is owned by them only, and should not allow any other person to use it. In case there is a necessity to transfer the ownership of certain mobile phones owned by public they are advised to do so without any delay by contacting the respective service providers. It is also noted that CDMA mobile phones are to be used at the registered address only.The subscribers who carry a mobile phone is also to have a certified copy of the letter issued by the operator for inspection and identification to prove the ownership of the SIM card which will be inspected by the law enforcement authorities at the road blocks.The government has taken these steps to avert irregularities and illegal activities while minimizing threats to national security created by the irresponsible use of telephones. <a href="http://www.colombopage.com/archive_08/July13141856JR.html" target="_blank">http://www.colombopage.com/archive_08/July13141856JR.html</a></blockquote>
