Leader of the House Minister of Healthcare and Nutrition Nimal Siripala de Silva said the LTTE had declared a unilateral ceasefire but the Government would not be deceived by this ploy as it was well known that the LTTE had always settled for ceasefire when it was cornered and wanted breathing space.He said the the armed forces were now within a short distance of Kilinochchi and the supreme sacrifices the forces had made to defeat the LTTE in the Eastern Province and their present victories in the North Province, their current victories in the North together with the victims of Northern terrorism cannot be betrayed by the Government.It should be remembered that the government did not want to achieve military victories alone over the LTTE but had been keen to find solutions to the problems of the Tamil people by devolution power to the North.
