Well I have been using Garmin Mobile XT for years on a Nokia N82. It has been wonderful and there was no other solution in SL for GPS with map and poi. Thing is garmin mobile xt app is now discontinued as I know. So there's no improvements. Sametime ppl are unable to get updated poi other than the minor poi built in to the map. On other hand Google map is improving day by day. Even very minor POIs contain in the map. And recently they released the navigation version with voice/re-routing support which work same as garmin. Downside is your internet connection has to be activated. With the GPS+internet activation, the battery dies in minutes. Map caching is not a good solution. But we can atleast keep a hope on google of their development than using a never updating Garmin i think. I tested a Sala pro SAT also recently and there are hell a lot of well categorized poi collection which is great. And they give a update once 6 month (May be not free). The link where sala software running in a Android just amazed me. With a car charger, your android phone becomes a complete sala sat. Good side of these google navigation and sala sat is the map is rich in detail. It contains the roundabouts details and one way roads in most places which is great. Garmin doesnt have that much of detail and if u follow it in colombo, you can mess with traffic police too. Anyway good to see now there are lot of solutions available in SL. I tested a google navigation also on a Samsung Galaxy S II works great.
