You can give the yellow wire from the molex connector permanently to the positive terminal and either the red wire (5V) or a black wire (ground) using a two way switch to the negative terminal to make them work at 7V and 12V respestively. You can use the 12V supply when doing heavy tasks and 7V supply when not doing much work. This way, you are not wasting power either. If you use a resister, then even when you turn down the RPM, it will still dissipate the same amount of power as at max RPM. I know, it's a small power, but we should try to cut power as much as we can, if we can. Think of how much electricity we will be saving when we add them all up from everyones's PCs.</blockquote>
