First you have to understand different between Engineer and Technical Officer. SLT recruited Technical Officers. I am saying it by my experience. My first job was technical officer and Now I am ENGINEER after my graduation. So, I know how higher management treat engineer and technical officer, especially in most of Mobile operators, when it comes to salary + other benifits.EG: Leading Mobile operator,Technical officer - 20,000 BASIC + OTVery hard to take promotion.If they promote, - 35000 basic but not entitle for OT.Engineer - aprrox 40,000 basicnext promotion - total approx 80,000 - 100,000 including Vehicle allowance and patrolMost importantly, NDT people have faith be an Engineer. So, they do there best in studies by doing IESL or OUSL after NDT. But most of NDES people, they have negative mind and they satisfied with what they gained.That is bitter truth. It is up to you decide.I am a senior Engineer in reputed company in Sri Lanka. and 30 years oldMy qualifications are, NDES, B. ENG (Hons.), PMP.I proud to say I got all this due  in my positive attitude, If I follow, the path which prefers most of NDES people, Still I am a Technical officer, doing what Engineers ask me to do.</blockquote>
