Ultimatum to Sonia and Manmohan Singh: Stop the war against Pirapakaran in two weeks otherwise MPs from TN will quit Wed, 2008-10-15 05:57 Chennai, 15 October, (Asiantribune.com): Wily old fox M.Karunanidhi, Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and the leader of Dravida Munnetra Kazhgan (DMK) had the last laugh, when the All Party Meet on Sri Lanka Tamils resolved that all the 39 Members of Parliament from Tamil Nadu would quit within a fortnight, if the Centre did not take action in stopping the Sri Lankan army offensive in Tamil areas of the island against Pirapakaran and Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam. M.Karunanidhi: India should take all steps to put an end to the ongoing ethnic strife in the island nation and ensure peace in "Eelam". M.Karunanidhi: India should take all steps to put an end to the ongoing ethnic strife in the island nation and ensure peace in "Eelam". A resolution to this effect was passed at the meeting convened by the Chief Minister M Karunanidhi. Sources told Asian Tribune that the octogenarian DMK Leader had a hearty last laugh when he outsmarted the eight political parties from Tamil Nadu, whose leaders attended the meeting include the (DMK), Congress, CPI, CPI-M and PMK to unanimously resolved to quit seats of their parliamentarians in case centre fails to interfere in Sri Lankan affairs and halt the raging war against the Tamil Tigers in Kilinochchi. The eight parties and two defectors from the MDMK woud in fact amounts to 37 Lok Sabha seats from Tamil Nadu. Other two MP’s belongs to MDMK led by Vaiko, opposed yesterday’s All Party meet convened and chaired by DMK Leader. The All Party Meet to decide about the plight of the LTTE was held in Chennai yesterday afternoon presided over by the 84 year old Karunanidhi. The all-party meeting called by the DMK was boycotted by the major Opposition Parties - AIADMK, BJP, MDMK and DMDK and also by a few other regional parties. The meeting urged the Centre to immediately stop providing arms and military-related equipment to the Sri Lankan Government as they were being used against the Tamils in that country. India should take all steps to put an end to the ongoing ethnic strife in the island nation and ensure peace in "Eelam", the resolution said. "The centre should stop the 30-year-old civil war that has resulted in thousands of Tamils' death in Eelam. Since Indian military aid is resulting in genocide of Tamils, this meeting urges its immediate stoppage," an official statement quoted a resolution adopted at the meeting. "This (all party) meeting informs the centre that if India does not fulfill the demands, (the inaction) may result in the resignation of all MPs from Tamil Nadu," another resolution said. - Asian Tribune -
