Claiming that the attack was a gunfire ambush, Mr. Ilanthirayan said 12 SLN personnel were wounded in the attack. Thissamaharama division is situated in the constituency of the Sri Lankan president Mahinda Rajapaksa.The Liberation Tigers have stepped up guerilla operations in the Eastern Ampaa'rai district and the bordering southern districts.Thissamaharama is located 174 km southeast of Colombo and 118 km south of Ampaa'rai town.
