According to the Air Force sources, not even a technical problem has been reported by any of its aircraft during the day. Meanwhile, defence analysts are in the view that the LTTE is striving hard to rebuild its lost image through its "air-raid" novelty. Though, the outfit's air capability has only a trivial tactical value; the LTTE along with its pro terror media network has been engaged in a major psychological operation to inflate the outfit's military power. According to the analysts the LTTE has three aims in this psy-op. The first is to damage the countries economy by showing to the world that the country is under a severe threat; the second is to recreate its lost image among its sympathisers and fund raisers to keep them faithful; and the third is to instil a fear psychosis among the general public. However, the analyst further highlight that the lapses in the national air defence system must not be ruled out despite the insignificance of the terror airpower.
