According to him there was a king in Jaffna. That person used the name Raja. Therefore he is a king. This the Raja talks in Tamil. Therefore he is a Tamil king. If the king is Tamil then the state should be Tamil too. Whether its population is Tamil or not is not a question. This is queros thinking. At least he does not think about how the word Jaffna came about.
For the Portuguese, the name Jaffna taken from the Sinhalese name YAAPANAYA-යාපනය ,It became Jaffna,latter during the Dutch period the name Yalpanam, was established
Based on this reason, some scholars think that there was a Tamil state in jaffna Sri Lanka.
. Although Jaffna was ruled by pirates, there was a Sinhalese state there. The ruler of Jaffna
went to Gampola or Kotte and visited the kings and got permission to use the title of king. Queros had no understanding of the united state in Ceylon. Not even some current learned historians . In ceylon history there was no emperor. Sankili was supported by the Sinhalese kings in the battle against the Portuguese. There was a Sinhalese state in Jaffna that obeyed sinhalese king Gampola or Kotte.
The main argument here is that The treaty Sankili (Cankili I) signed with the Portuguese was in Sinhala and Portuguese, not in Tamil and Portuguese. The peace treaty signed by Sankili and Portuguese to cease the fighting, was written in Portuguese and Sinhala. Then if Jaffna was in fact a Tamil Kingdom, as some claim, then why write such an important document in Sinhala?
Also at that time, the official language of Jaffna was Sinhala. but we see that some are today spreading lies to protect their elitism by sacrificing Tamil youths.
