[QUOTE="Mal Aiyya, post: 4451850, member: 81650"] Exactly, thats what was pointed out that SL lacked and is still lacking. The major capital wealth, expertise, the resources etc. Where would have Sri Lanka found all that being that constrictive? If SL was able to do it at some time, why is it still begginig other economies? All those dont happen over night, the country has to work for it over a long period of time, and specially change its policies. Of course they didnt build it becuase they loved us, I know that. Maybe they got something for themselves, but at what expense to SL? What, so gigantic that makes you to talk for all these, did SL loose out of colonization? Was it exposed to slave trade? Did the invaders burn the country down? Did they ruin what was already there in the country (If any) ? The marginal social benefit is much greater than the Marginal social costs of the colonization. Which shows the large positive externalities that were there, which SL is till enjoying todate. You cant expect the British or whoever to do all that for free... Why the corruption and attitudes of the people was brought was becasue those are one of the key factors that can either ruin or build a country. Talking about your project(s) that were completed ahead of due time, how many similar cases are there? One can count all that with just the fingers in one hand, but talking about the British, in this context, how many major infrastructure add-ons did they do? How long were they ruling SL?
