Shooting within is more painful than shooting from outside; Weerawansa speaks sentimentally in the parliament JVP Propaganda Secretary and the Parliamentary Group leader Wimal Weerawansa made a special statement in the parliament today (08) and said that the JVP Central Committee had decided to sack him from the party. Criticizing the party, Mr. Weerawansa said that the Central Committee had decided to sack him at a meeting that he did not take part and the implementation of the decision had been postponed until May 1, with the hope of obtaining his support for the election campaign of the Eastern Provincial Council. This is the first time Mr. Weerawansa spoke in public on the decision to sack him. Questioning how he became a leper to the party, Mr. Weerawansa said that he rendered a yeoman service to the party. He said that as same as he was created by the party, the bondage between him and the people was also vital. He said that the party had informed the Central Committee members not to communicate with him. He further said that he did not bear any party responsibility now and the party had not informed him what would happen to him. He stated that shooting within was more painful than being shot from outside. Enquiring how he became unsuitable even to the party margin, Mr. Weerawansa asked from the membership to probe how such decisions were made. He said that a conspiracy will result in only a collapse and new births would come only through fresh dialogues. Lanka-e-News learns that JVP MP Lal Kantha who was at the parliament to pay last respect to the late Minister Jeyaraj Fernandopulle had told a foreign journalist that Mr. Weerawansa had exposed party inside to the President and he would be chased away from the party due to treachery. Sources close to Mr. Weerawansa said that 11 MPs of the JVP were ready to work as a separate group. MP Nandana Gunathilaka who was sacked earlier is likely to join with Mr. Weerawansa in future. Meanwhile, Mr. Weerawansa has organized a press briefing this afternoon to clarify the current situation
