He had not forgotten how the Buddha, whilehe was still a prince, had abandoned his beloved daughterYasodhara for the renunciant’s life.One day, knowing that the Buddha and his discipleswould be entering the city for almsfood, the king got drunk,and the wine in his veins made him brave enough to go andblock the Buddha’s way. He would not let the Buddha pass,saying that he, the king, could not make way for someoneyounger than he was. Not protesting, the Buddha and hisdisciples turned back. King Suppabuddha then ordered oneof his men to spy on the Buddha and report back to himwhatever the Buddha said.Once back at their monastery, the Buddha said toAnanda, “The king has created bad kamma by blockingthe way of the Buddha and soon he will have to pay for it.”This was reported to the king who became determinedto prove that the Buddha didn’t know what he was talkingabout. He commanded all of his attendants and guards tobe extra vigilant in protecting him, while he himself wouldtake special precautions.The news of the king’s increased efforts to protect himselffrom harm reached the monastery where the Buddhawas staying. The Buddha said that it didn’t matter whetherthe king lived in a tower, in the sky, in an ocean, or in a cave, because he couldn’t escape the result of his kamma.Nobody could.Several days after the road incident, the king was sittingin his room when he heard his favorite horse neighing andkicking about wildly. He became so worried that he immediatelywent to see what the matter was, forgetting whatthe Buddha had predicted for him. As he rushed out of hisroom, he tripped and fell down some stairs and died. Whenhe was reborn, he was reborn in hell. So no matter how hardhe tried, the foolish king was unable to escape the effects ofhis evil kamma. That is how the law of kamma works.Not in the sky, nor in the middle of the ocean,nor in the cave of a mountain, nor anywhereelse, is there a place where one cannot beovercome by Death.I made this cartoon out of this story from Dhammapada , did some slight changes as I wanted without damaging the core of the story .Technically speaking , this project was not easy for me , coz i worked out all the animations from my laptop the backgrounds are made from 3D Max , as well as digital painting & composting . The king's palace is based on Durbar square - Katmandu Nepal.The characters are hand drawn and painted digitally from Adobe Photoshop and animated from Adobe After effects . Rendering took such long time as some rendering took 6 hours time for one min. video lengths ....
