If Rajapaksa fails to honour the  promise and tries to delay it, the DMK will not be just watching it. We  will take up the issue and urge the Centre to do the needful.”Referring  to arrest of former Lankan Army chief Sarath Fonseka, Karunanidhi said  the Lankan President should not forget the history. In this regard, he  recalled how Alexander the Great had treated King Porus after the  latter’s fall.Karunanidhi had used the same analogy, when there  were reports that LTTE leader Velupillai Prabakaran wanted to surrender  after the island government launched a massive attack against the  Tigers.He denied the charge of AIADMK general secretary J  Jayalalithaa that he was trying to create an illusion that Chief  Election Commission had acted in her favour. “In fact, Jayalalithaa had  created such an impression by stating that Chawla had invited her and  asked her to sit along with VVIPs during the diamond jubilee  celebrations of the Election Commission,” he said.</blockquote>
