Anjali feels very close to Dev, and Dev takes her to meet his mom (Sharmila Tagore). Dev's mom approves of Anjali. Now Dev has to meet with Anjali's dad (Kiran Kumar) and mom (Anjana Mumtaz). Dev does not have a wealthy background, however, Anjali does not feel that this should be a problem. She instructs Dev to dress appropriately. But Dev does not dress appropriately, and is very candid about his lack of wealth with her dad. This repulses her dad, and he refuses to approve of Dev. Anjali asks Dev as to his problem, and Dev does not respond appropriately to her also. Anjali then asks her parents that she wants to get married to someone else. Satisfied that Anjali is on the right track, the parents arrange a marriage with a very reputed and wealthy young man, Ram (Akshaye Kumar). Ram adores Anjali, but Anjali is still bitter over Dev and does not reciprocate his advances. Ram lives with his step-mom (Sushma Seth) ; step-brother Bob (Parmeet Sethi) ; and step-sister Nikki (Navneet Nishan). Anjali finds out that Ram's step-mom and step-siblings detest Ram. She also finds out that Ram is aware of this, and wants to win their love, by being a loving son and brother. This does not happen as Bob starts making sexual advances towards Anjali. Ram does not tolerate this and the step-mom and step-siblings move over to another location.
