Residential are offered unlimited downloads for 2,000 rupees a month at speeds up to 512 kilobits per second. </p><p>Office users are offered the 3,000 package with speeds of one megabit per second and 5,500 rupee with two megabits per second. </p><p>"Broadband access opens up a whole new world of possibilities that drive business growth through better information management, better service delivery and greater speed and convenience for customers," Samarasinghe said. </p><p>For home users it could be a great aid to education and social interaction." </p><p>Lanka Bell says it has a subscriber base of nearly one million.
