Message: <blockquote data-quote="lkdood" data-source="post: 11315807" data-attributes="member: 92282">The Lessons Learnt and Reconciliation Commission has completed its  report on the final stages of the war and is awaiting a communication  from the President’s Office regarding the handing over of the report.     Lakshman Wickremasinghe the Media co-ordinator for the LLRC speaking to  Daily Mirror online said that the report is complete and is now in the  process of being proof read. "The report has been completed and is now  in the process of being proof read, we hope that the process will finish  by Thursday (November 10), the commission is awaiting an official  communication from the President’s Office regarding the handing over of  the report."              The LLRC was appointed as a Presidential Commission by the President,  in accordance with the constitution as a fact finding mission into the  final days of the war. Wickremasinghe stated that the mandate given to a  presidential commission provides that the report be handed over only to  the president of the country.     "According to the constitutional clauses which govern the appointment  and the mandate of  a Presidential commission, the legislative  requirement is that the report of any presidential commission, only be  handed over to the president" he said. When queried as to if the report  will be available to the public or if the report will be handed over to  the United Nations, Wickremasinghe pointed out that the legislative  enactments with regard to a Presidential Commission does not give the  Commission a mandate to do so. "The duty of the commission is to hand  over the report to the president, the handling of the report and the  consequent use of it is the prerogative of the president of the  country," he said.      Dailymirror</blockquote>
