LTTE Massacred in PTK The LTTE's 'middle management' has suffered irreparable losses during the last few days of fighting. The identity of the dead tiger leaders are coming to light after a Military Intelligence team was sent to the coconut grove where they breathed their last breath. So far they have identified the remains of Theepan, Nagesh, Vithusha, Thurga, Gadabi, Manivannan, Thamilenthi (Thamilselvan's deputy and deputy political wing head) and host of others including Swarnam's two deputies Chithrangan and Adithyan who fought against the 59 in the recent past.) The entire brood of tiger leaders got trapped after the Special Forces and Commandos bypassed their defenses and cut them off at the rear. The operation was launched by a combined 53, 58, and Task Force 8 team 3 days ago when they crept into LTTE areas like two rods on either flank. The two infiltrations joined-up at the rear of the LTTE defence right upto the NFZ and boxed-in the Tigers. The three Divisions were unaware of a grand plan by the LTTE to break into the Army FDL, which coincidentally was to be launched on the same day. The three Divisions made a smart move when, instead of clearing the box from south to north, started from north to south. It was then that they realized that over 600 LTTE are trapped inside the area and that they had even moved heavy artillery including 130mm into the narrow patch of coconut trees. As the resistance was high, the three Divisions called in the Special Forces and 2 Commandos who took over the clearing operation and searched and destroyed all LTTE units. By last evening, the operations was completed and the total bodycount stood at 421 LTTE cadres killed. What happened to a large group of others cannot be revealed now. The Army has also planned a daring rescue operation into the NFZ, which will commence within the next two days, sources confirmed to DefenceWire. The nature of the operation, we have been told, is unlike anything any military has launched to date. - DW
