Pinwath Mithura, A person is not a Buddhist monk/nun anymore if he/she engages in any Parajika activity. No one needs to expel that person from the Bikshu/Bikshuni. Such a person is expelled automatically and looses rights to the title 'monk' or 'nun' instantaneously. A person looses in the Path if he/she commits a 'Parajika' sin. There is no means of correcting such actions (Friends from other religions: It's because of the Karma and selfless nature of its Vipaka; There's no one to 'forgive' because the action is done.) How unfortunate to see people regarding them as monks even when they are proven guilty? This shows the sad plight of how Buddhism is practiced today... :( In Buddha sashana only Pancha Sila was there with no other Vinaya rules in the first 20 years. None of the people took up robes got their sila (virture) stained. See how purly people behave when they take up robes to end this samsaraic existence... :) The first ever Vinaya rule imposed by Sammasambuddha Guthama was for "methun parajika" (regarding sexual activities). The person in concern was a monk named Sudhinna, who without knowing (because only Pancha Sila was there as a rule, and because he had not developed proper mindfulness/Sathi by the time) gets his Brahmachariya stained... reference to Vinaya Pitaka: http://www.mettanet.org/tipitaka/1Vinaya-Pitaka/1Parajika-Pali/1Parajika/01parajika1-s.html (sinhala) You can find more by searching for 'Parajika' As well explained in Uposatha Sutta (which is related to Paharada Sutta) a person does not belong to Sangha the instant he/she gets his Sila stained (Mainly breaking a Parajika rule; there are minor offenses that can be corrected). See how pure the Sangha that follows/followed the Path... :) See how poor we are in Dhamma to treat person proven guilty of Parajikas as monks/nuns... :( Personally I do not treat them as monks - as our friends have expressed a 'monk' is not just a person with robes - he is a follower of Buddha cultivating Sila, Samadhi and Panna along the Path to end his samsaraic existence, while promoting/disclosing Dhamma out of pure compassion towards others... Another thing there is a very good structure among the Buddhist monks to examine all accusations. Unlike the civil law its based on Dhamma, hence Sila, Samadhi, Panna; there's no room for 'winning' cases through arguments or tweaking evidence. Unfortunately this mechanism seems to be not functioning well; probably because people like us are not aware of it or decisions made by it... As followers of Dhamma we should non use the term 'monk' or 'nun' for every person wearing a robe; we should know how to identify monks from pretenders (who may even have ordinated at some point of time)... This too requires us to practice Dhamma in pure form. Let's start (if not already started) to practice Pancha Sila unstained... Theruwan saranai!
