Unified memory is used as both system ram and vram so you do the calculations. Even in my windows if I'm going to edit a quality video the 32GB of system ram runs out in a while and Vram of 6GB runs out immediately when I open the fusion tab in davinci resolve. Forget about running a decent LLM locally as parameters need 2-3 times VRam GBs per 1B parameters. For consuming content - 16GB would be enough but running two high quality monitors with a bunch of chrome tabs would defenitely result in paging. That means SSD dies quickly -> useless brick that cannot be repaired. On top of that Apple AI needs a lot of ram as well. 16GB version is a bait.</p></blockquote><p></p>
