Mr. Samaraweera said the UNP intended to take legal action against this move by the government. He charged that banning of web sites was a clear sign of Sri Lanka  becoming a mafia-type government similar to the one which was in Libya  and what is presently in Zimbabwe.“At the start were a stock market mafia and then a land mafia and by  banning websites the government is preventing people from becoming aware  of these dangerous moves,” he said. Mr. Samaraweera said this unfortunate situation was highlighted by prominent Buddhist monks and other religious leaders.
