(සැතපුම්26 යාර 385) සාමාන්‍ය‍යෙන් මෙය මාර්ග ධාවන තරඟයකි. පුරාවෘත්තයට අනුව මෙම ධාවන තරඟයට මැරතන් යන නම ලැබුනේ පණිවිඩ කරුවකු ලෙස මැරතන් යුද්ධයේදී ක්‍රියාකල ග්‍රීක සොල්දාදුවකු වන "පිහිඩිපීඩ්" නිසාය. ප්‍රථමයෙන්ම 1896 දී ඔලිම්පික් ක්‍රීඩාවලට මැරතන් ධාවන තරඟය එක් වූ නමුත් මේ සඳහා දුර ප්‍රමාණය ප්‍රමිතිගත කරන ලද්දේ 1921 දීය. අවුරුද්දක් තුළ දී මැරතන් ධාවන තරඟ 800කට වඩා ලොව පුරා පවත්වනු ලබයි. ඒවාට තරඟකරුවන් විශාල ප්‍රමාණයක් විනෝදය පිණිස සහභාගී වේ. විශාල මැරතන් තරඟ සඳහා දස දහස් ගණන් පිරිසකට වුවද සහභාගී විය හැක.
