IMO this is a must have for mobile users, cos I've had so many problems when using the notebook on the move with an optical or a laser mouse without a mouse pad. And the Nano transceiver is another bonus, you can even leave it plugged-in to your notebook permanently.
My previous laser mouse stopped working so I had to buy a new one. Today I bought one of these new Microsoft BlueTrack mice. Price was just slightly more than a comparable Laser mouse so I decided to give this new technology a try. And here is a small review for your reading pleasure ;). I got the Microsoft Wireless Mobile Mouse 4000. It is a notebook (small form factor) mouse with a Nano Transceiver. Official Specifications

BlueTrack™ Technology Microsoft BlueTrack Technology combines the power of optical with the precision of laser for remarkable tracking on virtually any surface.*
Plug-And-Go Nano Transceiver Leave the Nano Transceiver plugged in when you’re on the go, or stow it in the mouse.
2.4 GHz Reliable Wireless Microsoft 2.4 GHz wireless delivers a reliable connection with up to a 30-foot range, with virtually no interference.
10-Month Battery Life Use your mouse without power interruption for up to 10 months on a single battery. Battery status indicator tells you when battery power is low.
Windows Flip in Windows® 7 Easily switch between open windows with the click of a button.
4-way Scrolling Scroll four ways for greater efficiency and comfort with Tilt Wheel Technology.
4 Customizable Buttons Get quick access to the media, programs, and files you use most often with customizable buttons.
My thoughts Tracking is amazing, the best I have experienced so far. It worked pretty well on almost all the surfaces I tried : mouse pad, wooden table top, bed , cushioned chair, glass surface. Yeah it even worked on a transparent GLASS surface  !!. IMO this is a must have for mobile users, cos I've had so many problems when using the notebook on the move with an optical or a laser mouse without a mouse pad. I don't think I have to worry about that anymore :). And the Nano transceiver is another bonus, you can even leave it plugged-in to your notebook permanently. Hats off to Microsoft for delivering yet another great mouse  Finally here are some photos I took : here is a small Microsoft promotional video for BlueTrack
