Because there are many different subtypes of migraine. There are a new family of drugs - Calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) which works, but there are side effects including liver damage.But later, Monoclonal antobodies (CGRP mAbs) were developed, not cheap but considered safe. Some of these are still awaiting for FDA approval. CGRP mAbs are the latest preventative drugs for migraine. Currently there are three mediactions available (not in SL) and another 5 on the way.  The drug named Vyepti is a 30 minute infusion and you need to get it every three months. There's another class known as the "gepants" under development are mostly tablets, zavegepant is being developed as a nasal spray. These are a bit cheaper.Hopefully may be one day there will be a cure.....</blockquote>
