(A1 means <=100cc bikes). Also many say the Police only requires you to have the bike registered and that the rider would not require a license... BUT remember... if you have an accident you will not be able to speak because at the eyes of law you rode a bike without license.If you have a FULL insurance for the bike, they will not pay you because you don't have a driving license (aka you are not suppose to drive).Also the Police will not get involved to any incident subjecting bike with no license/registration (you have to have BOTH)PROCEDURE1.  if you live in a different location than what is on your NIC... go to local 'Grama Sewaka' and obtain a letter saying that you are in the new address! (Only if needed). 2. Get a Medical Check up from MBBS certified doctor... they have a special certificate... I think all Government Hospitals give it.. (not sure confirm please) Take a Stamp size photo with you in case, remember to take the 'Grama Sewaka' letter also.3. Take the Medical certificate, NIC, Grama Sewaka letter, and original Birth Certificate to go to Weerahara RMV and apply for A1 drivers license! (Remember to take your day off because its going to the the WHOLE DAY!!!) they will give you a date and time for exam.4. Buy a Road Rules book, sit down, read it 10 times... memorize the road signs especially... other questions are mostly common sense.. but most don't have it so better read <img src="/styles/default/xenforo/smilies/default/P.gif"  class="smilie" loading="lazy" alt=":P" title=":P    :P" data-shortname=":P" />5. Go to bike seller and ask for registration... make sure you get it within 2 weeks.5. Go to the exam BEFORE the time... NEVER BE LATE FOR EXAMS!! Also this is the one most common exam in the country.. don't get scared its not going to be that hard. <img src="/styles/default/xenforo/smilies/default/happy.gif"  class="smilie" loading="lazy" alt=":)" title="Happy    :)" data-shortname=":)" />6. Wait an hour and collect the results... and get your 'L' board... the Trial date will also be given <img src="/styles/default/xenforo/smilies/default/happy.gif"  class="smilie" loading="lazy" alt=":)" title="Happy    :)" data-shortname=":)" /> that would be 3 months from the date.7. Ride anywhere in the country with your L board... try not be stupid...8. If you want to ride your OWN BIKE... get a learner driver insurance for the DAY OF THE TRIAL.. also you need to have you moped/bike registered!! otherwise you cannot ride YOUR bike! remember FULL INSURANCE does not have learner driver... its separate and expensive. NOTE : If the bike is not yours (a company/person) you will need a letter from them saying that they will give permission to drive and perform the Trial. Otherwise you will need to ride a bike from the RMV9. Pass the Test and they will Mail your drivers License to your NIC's posting addresses... if your living at the different place now, tell the local post office to divert the mail to your new address...10.
