In 2008, 46% had passed Science but in 2009 that number has come down to around 44%.</strong></p><p><strong> The commissioner added that 18,997 students had failed all the subjects compared with 17,000 who had failed all the subjects last year. He also stated that 16,003 students had managed to pass just 2 subjects, and 18,000 had managed to pass just 3 subjects in 2009.</strong></p><p></p><p> <strong>Edirisinghe expressed his grave concern at how students have performed at the exam, “There is a lot of talk about those who passed the exam and have qualified to sit for the A/Ls.
