As far as I know this Sata controller only support SATA 1 (sata 1.5Gb/s ) so if you Hard disk is SATAII (3.0Gb/s) that can cause a problem, as some Harddrives needs manual config to make it SATA1 compatible (My Maxtor is also this type). They have a jumper to select SATA1 only. If hard disk wants such config it should be on the sticker on top of Hard disk. Try checking the net to find is there such jumper setting to your Hard disk model.But my problem was even doing that i was unable to use it on my p4. (But doing that I was able to see the hard disk detected to my system, and funny thing was it worked like a READ ONLY device on my pc !! - means Hard disk worked perfectly on other pc's, bt on my pc i could only read files written by other pc's ) I tried all the things from drivers to BIOS update, but non worked. Think it is because of a failed sata controller.So only thing i could do was to buy a SATA to IDE convertor, its a small circuit board plugs to one of you IDE ports, it has a SATA connector port on it. I found one at Unity Plaza for about Rs1300 or something about 4 months back.</blockquote>
