Lindsay Lohan was among the stars on the gold carpet to see MTV hand out some golden popcorn at the celebrity-studded 2008 Movie Awards.
High School Musical's Zac Effron took the award for best breakthrough performance for Hairspray.
Tom Cruise got down on bended knee to present Adam Sandler with the Generation Award for his various comedic and "stupid" performances over the year
Johnny Depp won twice, and got the biggest ovations of the night while shyly accepting best comedic performance and best villain awards.
Transformers director Michael Bay thanked star Megan Fox after the film took the best film award.
Will Smith, who won best male performance for I Am Legend, was joined on the gold carpet by his son, Jaden.
